Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited, a leading distribution and manufacturing company located in Montego Bay is actively searching for a dedicated, organized and efficient individual to fill the role of Plant Maintenance Technician for our Maintenance department.

The Plant Maintenance Technician will report to the Maintenance Manager directly. S/he is responsible troubleshooting, repairing and performing preventive maintenance for various manufacturing machinery and facility equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:     

  • Carry out mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance activities on plant equipment and systems including lubrication, inspection, and replacement of parts.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, update and repair malfunctioning plant equipment.
  • Actively participate in the installation and commissioning of new plant equipment.
  • Proactively and continually liaise with plant equipment operators and other relevant production personnel to get feedback on equipment performance and provide technical information aimed to improve and maintain equipment performance.
  • Record pertinent details of any equipment failure and repair work performed in accordance with the Company’s Maintenance Information System requirements.
  • Installs, maintains, repairs and adjusts electrical systems for production equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Safely operates a variety of hand and power tools to perform skilled maintenance tasks.
  • Ensures that all start-up and shut-down procedures are followed correctly.
  • Prepare order requisitions for required material and supplies.
  • Observes proper safety guidelines during the performance of all assigned duties and tasks.
  • Keeps work area neat, clean and organized.
  • Effectively completes all other activities as delegated by the supervising authorities.

Required Skills: 

  • Diploma in Engineering - Electrical, Mechanical or related field.
  • Certification in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration required.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar capacity, preferably in a food manufacturing plant.
  • Previous experience maintaining industrial and commercial units required.
  • Should possess OSHA and HACCP certification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timelines and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality.
