MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

 

Description:

Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL), operators of the Kingston Container Terminal, invites qualified, dynamic, energetic and results-oriented individuals to join our team in the following position.

Maintains repairs and evaluates mechanical, electrical/electronic and structural systems on all the Terminal's Heavy-duty Container Handling Equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Executes preventative and corrective maintenance procedures and schedules in conformance with engineering standards and codes and the relevant statutory regulations 

• Completes all relevant documentation to support execution, accurately and in a timely manner 

• Tests equipment to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards and identifies components to be overhauled 

• Participates in the analysis/research of the performance of electrical systems and other components and recommends modifications where necessary to improve efficiency 

• Executes all activities while ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures 

• Executes disaster contingency plans and participates in securing all equipment in the event of impending natural disasters such as hurricanes or storms 

• Works on assigned shifts and in all areas of the Engineering department, as required by management 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Maintenance from a recognized institution; 

• At least two (2) years' experience in maintenance and repair activities and evaluations for relevant equipment and machinery 

• Successful completion of the company's Junior Maintenance Technician's programme 

• Experience working with PLC systems 

• Diesel engine maintenance experience 

• Knowledge of industrial safety practices 

• Sound knowledge of relevant mechanical/pneumatic/electronic engineering systems and safety practices 

• Skilled in preparing and interpreting technical drawings/sketches; 

• Problem solving and analysis skills 

• Must possess a valid general driver's licence 

CONTAINER HANDLING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Description:

Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL), operators of the Kingston Container Terminal, invites qualified, dynamic, energetic and results-oriented individuals to join our team in the following position.

Operates Heavy-duty Container Handling Equipment (including Straddle Carrier) for lifting and carrying containers of various lengths during vessel and yard activities, in accordance with prescribed safety and operational procedures while achieving established standards and targets.

General Duties and Responsibilities

• Carries out routine pre- and post-operation equipment inspection checks as per operating procedures, and reports any defects discovered. 

• Reports immediately to Supervisor, any incidents or accidents occurring during the execution of work activities. 

• Executes work queue instructions given via Radio Data Terminal (RDT) device. 

• Maintains continuous operations by adhering to the "hot seat" changeover procedure. 

• Adheres strictly to the Terminal's speed limit, traffic flow regulations and other safety and operational standards. 

• Maintains the Container Handling Equipment operator's cabin in a clean and tidy condition at all times. 

Qualifications:

• Technical/vocational post-secondary training 

• Holder of a General Driver's Licence for at least 5 years 

• 5 years working experience in the operation of heavy-duty equipment 

• Must be Computer literate 

• Experience in automotive maintenance would be an asset 

• Safe Driving record 

• Not afraid of working at heights 

• High energy 

• Physically and mentally fit 

• Ability to work in high pressure environments 

• Teamwork
