Watchman (LMO/TS 1) – Orange River Research Station, St. Mary – (Vacant), salary range $8,042 - $9,099 per week.

Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Farm Manager (SOG/ST 5), the Watchman (LMO/TS 1) is responsible for ensuring that the Government’s assets are secured, by discouraging trespassing, loitering and theft.

Key Responsibilities
Technical/Professional:

• Checks that all doors/windows to buildings are closed at the end of the work day;

• Takes steps to ensure that praedial larceny is minimized;

• Opens all doors/windows in administrative buildings in the mornings;

• Patrols housing areas/station compound;

• Makes periodic checks on all station vehicles/equipment;

• Maintains Security Logs;

• Reports on normalcy/irregularities.

Technical:

• Knowledge of the operations of Government /Ministry’s policies and procedures

• Basic knowledge of security measures

Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience

• Grade Nine (9) level education;

• Six (6) months related experience.

• Special Conditions Associated with the Job

• Adverse weather conditions;

• Potential exposure to criminal elements.
