The Child Development Agency, an Executive agency under the portfolio of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, invites suitably qualified and competent persons to fill the following position:

Telephone Operator/Receptionist, Corporate Office (Level 1B)

Job Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Support Services Officer, the incumbent will be the point of contact and ensures that all customers entering the Agency or calling on the telephone are dealt with in a professional manner.

  • Route telephone calls to relevant officers in an efficient manner
  • Ensure visitors and customers are dealt with in a timely manner and that they are accommodated while they wait to be processed
  • Take messages and have them relayed to relevant officers
  • Provide answers to basic queries
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

  • Privacy of calls and information are maintained

Key Knowledge and Competencies:

  • Ability to manage and manipulate PBX systems
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • High level of professionalism
  • Ability to handle difficult customers
  • Knowledge of the functions and operations of the Agency.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Four (4) GCE/CXC subjects
  • Certification in customer service skills, telephone skills or other related skills
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in customer relations or related field
  • Must be competent in handling a switchboard/PBX systems
