Job Summary:
The Assistant Chef supports the Head Chef in preparing and cooking meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring that food is prepared according to established quality, hygiene, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Chef with preparing, seasoning, and cooking meals.Wash, peel, chop, and portion ingredients as required.Ensure food is properly stored and handled in accordance with food safety standards.Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and storage areas.Assist with menu preparation and meal presentation.Monitor kitchen supplies and notify the Head Chef when ingredients need replenishing.Follow recipes, portion sizes, and food preparation instructions.Ensure proper hygiene practices are followed at all times.Assist with receiving and checking deliveries and storing ingredients appropriately.Work efficiently as part of the kitchen team to ensure meals are prepared and served on time.Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned.Qualifications and Requirements:
Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation environment is an asset.Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety practices.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Good communication, teamwork, and time-management skills.Ability to follow instructions and maintain attention to detail.Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays, where required.
